NorthStar is a high quality camper that's been around since 1962. When closed the unit extends only about 2' above the truck cab , making it more fuel efficient & easier to get around than a standard truck camper.
The "boot" creates an insulated passage between the camper window & the truck 's rear cab window. As a safety feature you can pass thru to the truck plus it gives a pet easy access back & forth !
