The Taxa Tigermoth is a compact trailer that comfortably sleeps two. The advantages to the Tigermoth over a teardrop shaped trailer is the ability to convert the bed into a seating area for dining or escape from weather.

This little Tigermoth was purchased in Connecticut in the Spring of 2022 off of eBay from a body shop. The body shop had purchased it as a damaged vehicle as a limb had fallen on the left rear corner of the trailer. The damage was expertly repaired, new solar panels were installed, new tires (General Grabber AT/X) and rims also were installed.

Upon collection of the trailer and returning home we discovered that the axle was bent causing wear on the inside of the tires. We replaced the axle with Timbren axleless suspension thus increasing the ground clearance and the ride quality of the trailer. We have taken the trailer down some very rough back roads and have always been pleasantly surprised when opening the back door, or kitchen, that things rode very securely and were not bounced around.

At the same time the bent axle was replaced we went through the entire trailer, sanded and refinished the wood on the kitchen, replaced the missing cutting board, removed and replaced the screws that were pulling out and cleaned and lubricated the tracks of the pull outs. At the same time we went through the entire trailer and refixed the body screws by gluing in wood plugs in the holes and refixing the screws. We also added screw-type corner stabilizers which were needed because of the height increase, but are also an upgrade as they are much more adjustable.

Other changes/up-grades we made were installing an outside battery access door and improving the ventilation with a Maxxair venting fan. We improved the awning with a wider one that covers the kitchen area much better. Because it is wider than the spec awning we remove the awning while driving. We also purchased door screens from Taxa which really are a great improvement in ventilation.

The only reason we are selling the Tigermoth is we moved on to something a bit larger and more self contained. Our Tigermoth has taken us on some great adventures from Nebraska to Texas, in the Arkansas Ozarks, across the UP of Michigan, deep into Northern Minnesota, and it is now time for the adventures to continue with someone else.

Because the trailer is lightweight we have pulled the Tigermoth with our Toyota FJ Cruiser as well as our Subarru Forester. It pulls beautifully without swaying or bouncing even in heavy crosswinds. This is a wonderful up-grade from tent camping and much more usable than teardrop with the ability to sit inside.
