I purchased this is a beautiful Hoffman Coach conversion four years ago for $50,000. It has the original Imron (aircraft) paint by StarJet of Ohio, a nationally recognized name in the custom coach industry. The paint remains in mostly excellent condition, and the coach presents exceptionally well inside and out.
The complete history of this coach is known. C&J Bus Repair in Bloomington, Minnesota, maintained the bus for approximately 36 years before I purchased it. Since then, extensive maintenance and restoration work has been completed.
Much of the recent work was performed by Scott Crosby at Bus Grease Monkey in Tennessee. I have receipts for work completed during my ownership, totaling approximately $70,000 over the last four years. Owners don't recover their investment in coaches like this. I'm not going to get anywhere near the $120,000 I have in this bus, but this level of investment is necessary for reliable cross-country travel. We have been from one coast to the other several times, the bus is a beast and is in exceptional road ready shape.
Recent work includes replacement of all shocks, hoses, belts, air bags, thermostats, the air dryer, differential pinion seal, oil pan gasket, water pump, and main 8D batteries. Regular engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission oil, and transmission filter service has been performed. The coach also has newer tires (2024). The radiator was flushed, and all eight brake drums were removed and serviced, including races, bearings, pads, and king pin work. All air brake lines were custom cut, and replaced, providing a major safety upgrade. Additional updates include a new Raritan 12-gallon marine water heater, upgraded Honeywell components for the three coach air-conditioning units, and preventive maintenance on the over-the-road Cruise Air system, including recharge.
Both front windshields have been replaced with tinted glass. The front carpet was upgraded to new flooring, all interior window shades are new, and the furniture has been reupholstered and modernized. Sound and heat insulation were added to the generator compartment. Pull cables were installed on both front sides of the coach for easy access to the air-tank drains. All running lights, brake lights, fog lights, turn signals, and headlights have been serviced and are working properly, and the rear brake-light harnesses have been replaced.
You can find cheaper coaches than this one, but they will cost far more in the long run once repairs and updates are completed.
