RV Description

2019 TAXA OUTDOORS MANTIS

Sleeps 4 people (some folks have figured out how to sleep more), this trailer is perfect for people who love camping but want some home comforts and more shelter from the elements. This brilliantly designed trailer that has taken our family on so many amazing adventures, everywhere from the Pennsylvania and New York mountains, to coastal Maine, Cape Cod, the Outer Banks and South Carolina beaches.

19ft length, 3,800 GVWR, Dry weight approx 3,200lb, tongue weight approx 450lb. Towable with full-size SUV and up. No WDH/stabilizers required. Features a built-in brake controller and rugged off-road tires.

Features a twin bed (that converts into seating), 2 folding bunks (Smaller adults/kids) , that also convert to seating or can be fully folded up for cargo space (we have carried 4 bikes inside the camper without issue), toilet/stand up shower, kitchenette with sink/ 2 burner cooktop combo, 12V refrigerator. Throughout the trailer there is a ton of super-usable storage space. This camper also comes with additional milk crates, more than the 4 units originally provided. The crates are a great system - bring them inside, fill with what you need, load in / load out. Wrapping up trips is as quick as that if needed. Also features air-conditioning unit (shore power or generator only), awesome Thuma propane powered water heater/ducted heating system, multiple USB / 12v outlets (including exterior) and a 220v outlet (shore power only). Comes with two 12v lead-acid batteries, would recommend replacing or upgrading if you plan on spending more than a few days off-grid (we ended up camping at locations with electric hookup in later years of use so never upgraded).

The pop-up roof gives 6-8ft of standing room height in the center of trailer. The Mantis can be stored in a garage, or outdoors, it features an ARB roll-out awning for outdoor seating shelter (some folks add the awning room to these), Thule roof bars for carrying bikes, grill etc, these can also be used for a smaller rooftop tent if desired to add more sleeping room).

This is a pre-covid built trailer that has never let us down. Imho it is a superior layout to later models that are a little too spaceship looking. Included is a custom table that attatches at the bunk end for dining or working. We have meticulously maintained it and it's ready to go camping as soon as you are. The trailer has been inspected (and serviced if needed) annually at PA dealer (inspection up to date at time of posting). These trailers are easy to work on if needed, many parts are stock and there are excellent online forums and communities to support if advice is needed.

Upgrades we have made to this Mantis include:

- Custom dining/work table that can seat 4
- Additional handheld shower at foot level in bathroom
- Durable custom-made top bunk net with removable cushion
- Lower bunk width expander for folks who want some more room
- Dimmable reading lights with USB chargers on main bed and bunks
- In-line water filter
- Gas struts on storage bins under main twin bed (these will hold the bed up even with inflatable mattress and bedding in place)
- Rear view/back up camera
- 2 additional battery storage trays with straps for carrying spare batteries if needed.
