RV Description
We purchased this RV on 01/25/2012 with 6,110 miles on it. We have enjoyed this RV for the last 14 years. It currently has 34,121 miles. It has been to Iowa twice and to Destin, Florida and Orange Beach, Alabama about twice a year. Having your own private bathroom and kitchen on the road is amazing!
Everything works and there are currently no leaks. We have had to replace two of the left side windows due to rocks flying from lawnmowers or trucks while it was in storage. It is why you see the removable window shields in the attached pictures.
The RV exterior shows signs of being 15 years old. The decals have a few cracks and look weathered in spots. The seals on the roof still look good. I would rate the exterior fair, the interior good and the engine/driveline very good.
The Ford 6.8 liter V-10 is a great engine. I change the engine oil every April (about 2,500 miles) and the generator oil every 50 hours (generator currently has 300 hours on it). The coolant was changed 4 years ago with Motorcraft Orange.
I had larger sway bars installed front and rear along with a steering stabilizer. On windy days they have made driving on the interstate so much easier. The RV is 8 feet wide, 30.5 feet long (bumper to bumper) and 11.4 feet high (with the rooftop A/C being the highest point).
We replaced the kitchen faucet and bathroom faucet with residential units. They are heavier but last much longer. The microwave was replaced with a larger unit. The refrigerator was replaced with a residential unit that runs on 110V and a battery inverter when 110V is not available. The original refrigerator leaked propane and in my opinion, was a fire hazard. Also it would never freeze ice cream enough. This new refrigerator stays at 35 degrees and the freezer at zero degrees.
We replaced the full size RV mattress with a Queen size residential one. It fills the bedroom more and there is less space to walk around but it is much more comfortable. The exterior awning was replaced 2 years ago and still looks and works great. At 15,000 miles our RV tires were recalled and all were replaced free of charge, so the new ones have about 20,000 miles on them and have a lot of life left.
We added four stabilizer jacks to steady the RV when we camp. It comes with a hand crank to lower and raise them, but we have found using an impact driver with a socket is much faster. We added a Winegard Air 360 rooftop antenna to replace the original crank up/down one. No aiming is needed and we get 50+ free channels when we camp in Orange Beach or Destin.
The RV is currently in storage in Cropwell, Alabama about an hour away from our home. If you want to test drive it, we will need your drivers license info on the day of the test drive so that I can add you as a driver to the RV for insurance purposes (right now only my wife and myself are covered drivers). Thank you!
