This 2020 Airstream Globetrotter 27FB (Queen) is not a stock trailer. Over several years of thoughtful ownership, it's been transformed into a genuinely capable off-grid rig without sacrificing any of the comfort and style that makes the Globetrotter one of Airstream's most desirable models.

The headline upgrade is the electrical system, which was redesigned from the ground up with guidance from a retired Navy electrical engineer. The factory batteries and inverter have been replaced with a 280Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery bank, a 2000W inverter/charger, a 40A MPPT solar controller, and a 60A DC-to-DC tow charging system that keeps the battery topped off while driving (DC-to-DC charger requires additional truck part/installation). All outlets and major appliances on Zone 1 including the microwave now run on battery power. Between the 180W roof solar (Airstream-installed), the 200W portable solar panels, and the truck-fed DC-to-DC charger potential, this trailer is well-equipped to stay off-grid for extended periods.
