RV Description
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter diesel chassis | ~14 MPG | Well-maintained, well-loved and ready to go.
This 2008 Itasca Navion 24J was our family's home on the road as our pandemic pod. We covered more than two-thirds of US states and several Canadian provinces in it. We are experienced RVers who know this coach inside and out and are happy to walk a new owner through every system in detail. We have driven it comfortably in cities, developed campgrounds, and remote national forests. If we were still in a more nomadic phase of life, our family would confidently drive it to Alaska tomorrow. We now use it only once or twice a year and feel it is ready for its next owner.
This rig represented genuine luxury and quality craftsmanship when it was built, and its purposeful design puts it in a different class from entry-level motorhomes. We have refined it over time with upgrades that prioritize reliability and real-world usability over cosmetic flash. It has been kept dehumidified in summer and heated in winter to preserve systems and materials. We have treated it with care and an intention of preserving it for future owners.
WHY A SPRINTER-BASED CLASS C IS DIFFERENT
Most gas Class C motorhomes get 8-10 MPG. This one averages ~14 MPG with a ~26-gallon tank 350+ miles between fill-ups, which meaningfully changes how you plan and budget a trip. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter diesel platform is well-regarded for exceptional longevity; with proper maintenance, these engines regularly reach 250-300K miles or more, which is one of the key reasons Sprinter-based motorhomes hold their value and attract long-term travelers.
The 41 ft turning radius is dramatically tighter than the 50-60 ft typical of larger Class C motorhomes, making it drive more like a large van than a bus. It fits in a standard parking space, handles campground loops without drama, and is approachable for first-time RV drivers and experienced ones alike.
MECHANICAL CONDITION
Just passed state inspection and received a clean bill of health from our trusted Sprinter mechanic (February 2026) no additional work needed to be road-ready.
Recent work: intake replaced (a major $5,000 proactive investment to prevent future issues), starter replaced, inspection passed, chassis wiring repair.
Other work during our ownership: turbo replaced, alternator replaced, tow hitch structurally reinforced to increase towing capacity, main computer replaced, transmission fluid replaced.
We do regular maintenance, drive it approximately weekly when not traveling to keep engine systems exercised, and proactively address problems rather than deferring them.
LAYOUT SLEEPS 6
Permanent rear double bed (49" x 75") + overhead cab double bed (49" x 75") above the driver and passenger seats. A family of four can go to sleep without converting anything both beds are always ready, which is a significant advantage when arriving late or wanting to get moving quickly in the morning. The dinette slide-out converts for two additional sleepers.
Unlike many Class C floorplans, both kids can sit in the dinette facing forward while driving a real quality-of-life feature for family travel. The slide-out greatly increases interior square footage when parked, making the rig feel much more spacious on longer stays. The rear bed and overhead bunk are separated enough that early risers don't disturb everyone else.
POWER AND OFF-GRID CAPABILITY
34 gallon freshwater tank, 38 gallon graywater tank, 31 gallon blackwater tank
Renogy 200W solar panels with Rich Solar MPPT 20A charge controller
Brand new 150Ah AGM house battery with Victron BMV-700 battery monitor
Tripp-Lite PowerVerter Ultracompact 3000W inverter converts DC to AC with 2 standard outlets, so you can run a laptop or appliance without shore power or generator
Solar panels recharge the house battery during the day, allowing lights, water pump, and electronics to run without hookups. In practice, most off-grid travelers hit grey/black/fresh water limits before running low on battery power.
INTERIOR AND SYSTEMS
Well-insulated throughout with all water piping inside the thermal envelope. Blackwater and greywater tank heaters make winter use practical. Galley kitchen: fridge/freezer, 3-burner stove, microwave/convection oven, sink. Fridge, freezer, furnace, and hot water heater all run on electric or propane no shore power required. Fully enclosed bathroom with toilet, shower, skylight, and exhaust fan. The shower exhaust fan combined with cracking interior windows creates airflow throughout the entire unit. Rooftop A/C and robust heating. TV, DVD player, stereo. Cabinetry reinforced for extended trips; closet shelving in 5 areas; 4-bike rear hitch rack; 10 ft patio awning; exterior storage bay with rollout bin.
ADDITIONAL UPGRADES
LevelMate Pro wireless level monitor with leveling blocks
WeBoost cell phone signal booster
Brand new tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with all-metal valve stems
All interior lights replaced with LED
COSMETIC CONDITION
Good overall for the age. The most notable issue is a crack on the back panel screwed in place and covered with vinyl tape, solid and stable, not professionally repaired. We've come to appreciate the modest wear and tear: this rig flies under the radar at trailheads, remote campsites, and city parking in a way that shinier models don't.
GENERATOR
Installed but currently not working. Likely repairable; has not been a priority since we primarily use solar and shore power and prefer quieter travel.
WHAT TRANSFERS WITH THE SALE
A collection of hard-to-find spare parts accumulated over years of ownership: interior handles, exterior light housings, exterior panel handles, and more. Also included: RV cover, extra house water pump, aftermarket engine systems monitor, 2 DC mini fans, AC space heater, leveling blocks, assorted kitchen utensils.
MILEAGE CONTEXT
107,000 miles over ~18 years = ~5,800 miles/year, right in the healthy range for an RV (industry norm is 4,0006,000/year). Driven approximately weekly when not on the road to keep engine systems exercised and seals lubricated. This rig has not been sitting.
