RV Description
The Mammoth Overland ELE trailer is meant for folks who like to go exploring wherever they want to essentially. We have had this trailer from the rugged mountains in the Pacific Northwest, to the high altitudes of New Mexico, and the flat plains of the Midwest. You can check out all the standard features that come stock with ELE here: http://www.mammothoverland.com/ele/
We have the most unique of the ELE line (we think) as our serial number is 001. :)
What drew us to purchase an ELE was our love of exploring, and the frustration of typical tear drop, slide in, or other campers. We were limited by the height of the trailer, and ability to handle rough roads and terrain. Then we found Mammoth Overland. The unique design has NO AXLE in the rear. So we were only limited by the height of ELE. It's also helps that it is waterproof, so river crossings became easier.
We are upgrading our overlanding rig to a Storyteller HILT because we are going full time. We love our ELE, but we don't need 2 of these very capable overlanding trailers.
While ELE comes very capable from the factory, we found a few things that were worth of an upgrade:
1 - we have a fabrication shop, so we fabricated a Joolca Dual Ensuite on rails (2000# weight) that slides in and out. It provides a shower and a bathroom. Then it tucks away in the space already provided. There are many pictures of this.
2 - we had a mattress custom made for ELE. It has gel coils, and is very high quality.
3 - we added the WolfDen condensation mat underneath the mattress front to back
4 - we took the solar, and hard mounted it to the roof, out of the way so you can still use the observation deck. The solar is running 100% of the time, keeping the LiTime batteries in great shape. We have never ran the batteries to nothing and we have been out for a week at a time.
5 - we then took the standard propane tank, and had Mammoth fab up a stand that is 3" higher than usual so we can put the bigger tank on ELE up front. As this is an ELE version, the propane is plumbed all the way to the back. We did have a custom hose made for the front hookup as the stock hose kept failing.
6 - We relocated the front driver camera, and the rear Starlink mount so we could raise the Roam awning. We purchased the full Roam Room to go with the awning. This has a full waterproof floor, 2 doors, and 4 windows. It makes an awesome extension of the camper.
All in all, this is a seriously good overlanding/prepper camper. The only reason we are letting go of it is to upgrade for full time exploring life.
