RV Description

The 2015 Forest River Georgetown 280DS is a Class A motorhome designed for luxury and comfort on the road. With 64,000 miles on the odometer, this RV has been to every state and is ready for many more miles fun. Georgetown models are known for quality and value in a gas coach that goes beyond the basics. The 280DS offers a full class A experience in just 30 feet of easy driving th at lets you go just about anywhere. It is designed for the roaming couple with occasional guests (sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids.)

The 280DS floorplan starts with captains chairs that are rotatable and a vast glass panel view...with a powered privacy shade. A two seater convertible sofa pulls out for a double bed for guests and provides a good spot to watch TV and is right next to the dinette on the main slide which can convert to kids beds. Across on the passenger side is the screen door and entrance door with automatic steps, followed by the kitchen with large Dometic refrigerator/freezer a large microwave, 3 burner propane stove and full propane oven with lots of polished hard quartzite counter space including a modern double sink and pop up extension.
A little further back is the bathroom with toilet, sink and enclosed shower with skylight. Finally there the master bedroom with slideout and a queen sized bed. There's storage both above the bed and a massive wardrobe drawers and shelves at the foot of the bed with the 32" TV and separate A/C for the rear. Lockable pocket doors let you choose the privacy you want.

This 280DS is the last ever made and the only one with 2015 Georgetown features which include flush mounted tilt out windows to allow easy care AND provide ventilation even in the rain. Also included are LED lighting and a power awning with strip LEDs to provide evening light outdoors. Finally we have a rear storage compartment with a full heavy duty slide out tray which allows access with no trouble to your most used items...and storage below for infrequently used stuff.

Moving outside the coach...this coach has the same engine and frame as the much larger Georgetowns so no performance on the highway is lost and we installed a Roadmaster steering stabilizer for easier handling at speed. The engine if the famous Ford 362 V10 which was a staple in almost every Class A brand for more than a decade and is a workhorse up and down mountain passes.
The entire coach is served by a hydraulic leveling system which lets you push one button and relax as the coach balances itself.
Two NEW group 27 batteries serve as the house bank for 12V systems when not plugged in, In addition to the rear slide out storage there are 3 more side opening storage compartments on the passenger side...which don't make you duck under them to get something out. The drivers side lockers are for the large propane tank (for cooking & hot water), a water cabinet which contains all the hose hookups, water filtration and sewer controls and finally and electrical compartment where the 50amp power cord, cable TV and charging circuits are found. It you're camping without electic hookups...a Cummins 5kw generator hide behind another door and is controlled from the dashboard.

We had a custom rack built to handle our two Vespa scooters and did not tow a car...BUT we also upgraded the hitch system to a class 4 capable of handling 1000lbs of tongue weight. Everything you need to tow is ready to do so...but the rack is included if you want it!

I want to also note that the Georgetown has a fiberglass roof which was one of my primary wants in a coach. We've had 10 years of no leaks and no problems compared to friends with plastic roof troubles. The roof does need to be annually maintained with sealant wherever something is mounted through but otherwise nothing is needed.

The decal exterior of this coach is well worn and checked and we had planned a re-do of the exterior which unfortunately my health will not allow...but we've lowered our asking price to allow YOU to do that if exterior look is important to you. We think shes ready for another lower 48 state tour. Recently passed inspection and Located on the OuterBanks of NC and I'm happy to answer
questions from those with serious interest.
