1968 Caravel
We bought it a few years ago, both for the project and for the adventures that would follow. We gutted it and have been rebuilding it, you can see the process on Instagram @1968Caravel. Unfortunately our circumstances have changed, we are moving countries and will not be able to finish it. We are super sad about it and hope it will find a good new home. We have set it up with a good layout for a couple, with a queen size bed, kitchenette, small table and bathroom. I have included a sketch.
Since we started, we have put in everything new:
Completely gutted it and cleaned it up
Sanded and treated the frame
Replaced the subfloors with new plywood
Rewired everything for both 120v and 12v
Insulated it with 3M Thinsulate
Added back the shells and painted
Cleaned up windows, replaced broken ones with plexyglass
Added a Laveo dry flush toilet
Installed the electrical system with 3 solar panels and a Battle Born Energy Towable 30A 400Ah GC2 Kit which include: 4 Battle Born 100AH 12V Deep Cycle Batteries, Inverter Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 120V VE.Bus (UL 741), Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/70 TR VE.Can Charge Controller with Bluetooth, Victron BMV-712 Battery Monitor, VE.Bus Smart Dongle. Replaced fans and lights
Installed Vynil floors
Replaced air conditioning with brand new Dometic system
Installed cell phone signal booster
Added Furion backup camera
Installed 40 gallon fresh water tank, pump and outdoor shower. Ran pipes for indoor shower and kitchen
Installed a full home theater with TV, speakers, subwoofer, bluetooth receiver/radio including a second zone for an outdoor speaker it works beautifully and has kept us company while we work
Framed the bed and added a Zinus 6 inch foam mattress (split queen)
Hung the grey water tank
Have secured but not connected yet a Fogatti tankless hot water heater
Bought a brand new Dickinson propane fireplace for heat, included in the sale new in the box
