RV Description
The 2021 SCAMP 13' travel trailer is a dream on wheels. Every single time we've loaded up our Scamp and taken a new adventure it has performed flawlessly, making our trip easy and comfortable. We've never had any problems with it either on the road or camping during all sorts of weather.
Speaking of weather, we've even tested the heat strip side of the air conditioner and was quite impressed with how warm the temperature in the Scamp gets after just a few minutes in the wintertime. While not appropriate for the bitter cold days, Id have no hesitation camping in the deep fall or early spring when the overnight temps get close to or below freezing.
With the Maxx fans in/out 10-speed remote and the rain guard operating design we've hardly needed the air conditioning unit except for those very very hot days where we could not avoid the sun at all. Even those times, it only takes a few minutes to cool down the inside (requires shore power) otherwise, the Maxx fan does just fine 99% of the time.
As far as space and comfort, we've always felt that two people who are comfortable with each other will have no problems being comfortable on rainy days in the 13 Scamp. When the dinette is deployed, 4 people can comfortably hang out on the bench seats with room for a small dog or two for short stretches; but for all day inclement conditions, one or two people should be very content.
At night, the full size toilet and door makes for very easy and discreet use without ever having to venture outside on those wet or cold nights (we've used it 4 nights in a row without having to empty black water). The 54" bed is perfect for the two of us. I sleep on the side closest to the kitchenette because I'm closer to 6' and my wife is very happy on the back curved wall and window side at 5'8". I use a CPAP so the outlet by the kitchen works well (with shore power) otherwise, we keep a EcoFlow River 2 under the bed and we do just fine.
Mornings with cold milk, cereal, and coffee is a breeze with this kitchenette. When without shore power, we've used the LP option for the fridge which, over 3 summers has not even used one of our two LP tanks. There is a tank water heater but we find it easy enough to heat up water quickly on the stove top for washing up or doing dishes. We've hardly ever used both burners at the same time but its nice to have just in case. We typically use a camp grill and butane cooktop outside for larger meals, but we do use the gas burner inside every day at least for coffee or for heating up water. The venting fan above the stovetop carries exhaust outside the Scamp so there's no ill effect from indoor use. The holding tanks include: 12-gallon fresh water tank under passenger side bench, 26 gallons waste (grey) water tank under the rear compartment, and a smaller black water tank under the front of the trailer.
As far as towing, this has been the easiest thing I've ever pulled behind any vehicle. At approximately 1,500 pounds, the weight distribution is very good over these axle and wheels. It's a very smooth ride and backs up easily into even the tightest parking spots with ease. For new trailer owners, it does help to have a second person outside directing you if you're not sure about the fit, but I've back this up in lots of crowded parking lots and campsites so I'm happy with this small trailers maneuverability.
Enjoy the photos and video. Please reach out for more information. This Scamp has a clean title and no problems whatsoever with any of the amenities. Although we don't have an attached awning we typically use a separate 9' tall canopy that works just fine and provides much more surface area than an attached awning would for hanging out and staying dry at the opening to our camper and tow vehicle (see photo).
We'll meet a serious buyer partway if needed with a small security deposit. Otherwise, we are in Madison Wisconsin. This camper can come with lots of extras, too, including an assortment of Wisconsin beers if you are so inclined. Look forward to hearing from you.
