RV Description

The Casita Independence Deluxe is really convenient for couples. It has separate beds with the aisle between them so as not to disturb one another when getting up at night. This design also provides ample under-bed storage. With three large fully-functional screened picture windows, youll enjoy extra cross ventilation, ample natural light, and hopefully panoramic views.
We bought the Casita in 2018 so it is still a young one as fiberglass campers go. You can find all the details for the 2025 Casita at https://casitatraveltrailers.com/independence/
The folk at Casita havent changed the features that much.

The Independence Deluxe comes with a bathroom and shower. This feature proved to be just the ticket for us when travelling during COVID as we could handle bathroom trips and prepare meals from the side of the road, stopping only to get gas. It also has a ceiling fan that will cool down the camper in a hurry.

Our story:
A hip issue here, a joint issue there - and my wife and I are reduced to exiting our camping era and will thus make available all camping accessories accumulated over a lifetime of camping.

Casita Enhancements

The camper has the large fresh water tank as well as LED bulbs.

The stiff factory bed cushions (at least they look good) have been upgraded with a more forgiving memory foam from a local company that custom cut the foam to fit. It took us a couple of tries to get a good nights sleep as the first set of cushions were still stiffer than we liked.

We replaced the standard issue dining table with a more spacious table complete with cup holders (the new table top was originally designed for boating) so you can have a legitimate sit-down meal.

The fragile window mini-blinds (we replaced two blinds) have been upgraded with easier handling and more custom-fitted accordion blinds.

A receiver with cargo rack was installed on the back of the trailer frame that allows you to add totes so that you can carry spare gear and sporting equipment. (We carried golf clubs and folding chairs).

I added a storage area on the tongue over the propane tanks so you can easily store tongue balancing weights and leveling blocks.

I replaced the ratchet-based levelers that came on this Casita with screw driven levelers so you dont need to climb under the camper to level.

An extra shelf has been placed in the tall front closet so you can easily reach shoes, purses and other clothing instead of getting down on your knees to get articles stored on the floor.

We added interior towel racks in the back of the camper. When using microfiber towels (my daughters suggestion) they would always be dry and ready for the next shower.

The Casita has always been covered to protect the camper from the sun and rain. Thus there is no water damage to the camper. The cover we purchased from Casita didnt make the three year mark before it disintegrated. We had a custom Sunbrella cover made that is resistant to UV rays and should last seven years.

Condition:

The Casita has also been waxed at the end of each camping season and the fiberglass is in excellent condition. The camper has never been towed in the winter and thus not been exposed to road salt so the frame is in excellent condition. We had one of the running lights not come on and had an RV mechanic fix that and also look over the electrical system, test all the major devices in the camper: air conditioner, heater, three-way refrigerator aND three burner gas range. All systems are go on the Casita.

Road Use: Our maiden trip was from Kansas City to Yellowstone, to Boise, Idaho and then on to Oregon and Seattle and then home following a similar trail. We had no issues with traversing the rockies with the standard issue trailer brakes.

In addition to local camping trips, we would annually travel for a weeks stay just off the ocean at Jekyll Island, Georgia - then back. So the camper is road tested but road worn!

A little more about ourselves:

And also, as to all the details, I am a mechanical engineer (from Georgia Tech) by trade and I definitely sweat the small stuff. My wife had a legitimate fear that I would go crazy with retrofits and she clamped down and wouldnt let me drill any holes inside the camper. She made one small exception when we found that moisture had condensed in the second storage cabinet above the refrigerator - so I added a factory vent that solved the problem. Oh, and I also added a little storage shelf above each bed to hold a book, glasses, a watch or a phone. And a little rack that holds paper towels to the left of the kitchen sink. So this camper is good to go - and looking to find a new road home.
