1987 Gulfstream El Capitan 27' motorhome. 20,038 miles, 3rd owner, absolutely rust and damage free. I bought the RV in 2017 and completed a 2-year restoration, replacing the following- batteries, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, EGR, vacuum hoses, battery isolator, alternator, starter solenoid, 4 shocks, belts, steering stabilizer, front end bushings, master cylinder, all 6 brake hoses, rebuilt power booster, coolant/heater hoses, installed a new transmission remote cooler, brakes on all 4 wheels, new front calipers, generator circuit board, refrigerator circuit board, new water heater, new furnace, new roof A/C unit, gas tank fuel pump, replaced all rubber fuel and vacuum lines, valve cover gaskets, power converter, new exhaust headers, push-button transmission shifter, great stereo, new speakers, rear camera, carpet, interior lights, microwave, and more. Stainless sink, refrigerator, and cabinets are original and the oven has never been used. New CB radio. I spared no cost in making this motorhome as dependable as new, or better.

Note- This motorhome has the best and most desireable driveline in the used RV market! 1- Ford 460 truck engine, 2- C-6 automatic transmission (push button selector), 3- Dana rear end, 4- John Deere chassis. If you know anything about older motorhomes you will agree on this! There is a LOT of life left in this motorhome.

The driveline has been completely serviced, including transmission fluid and filter, differential oil, engine oil (synthetic used), coolant, K&N engine air filter, and power steering fluid.

The exterior roll-out awning was replaced in 2017.

The windows have been tinted light smoke black.

Both front seats rotate after being adjusted forward.

The refrigerator shows temperatures of -13 in the freezer and 33 in the refrigerator after 24 hours in 80 degree ambient temperature, see photos. It runs on 120 volts or propane.

The cruise control works, the Onan generator has 137 original hours and has been serviced with synthetic oil, carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, circuit board, plug wires, and hoses. New house water pump. All the plumbing is good and doesn't leak. New toilet and shower. All interior cushions have been replaced. The bed is king size with a memory foam mattress. The dash is custom made and rewired correctly. Relays control all high current devices- A/C, headlights, fan, etc. All new interior shades and curtains. The freezer goes down to -10 after a few hours, using propane or 120 volts. Everything works! Turnkey and ready to go!

The engine A/C compressor is new, new condenser, valve, accumulator, hoses, and custom vacuum controls were installed. Refrigerant is factory R-12. The cooling system has a manual electric fan, set on a 10-minute timer. Perfect for cooling the engine down after shut-down.

All of the window/frames were removed and resealed, then tinted. The roof has been resealed. Skylight replaced. There is NO water or leak damage anywhere. The exterior has 2 coats of marine grade clear coat.

This motorhome was purchased new in Banning, California, in the fall of 1987, I used to work with the buyer and knew him well, he used to brag about how fast this motorhome was. It has been in the Coachella Valley since then, so it has always been in a dry climate. Never in snow. All service records since 2017 and original purchase paperwork included. Currently licensed and registered in California.

The vehicle has been stored under cover, in the shade, during my ownership.

The motorhome runs perfectly and handles like a car. 11,500 lbs. curb weight. The RV had only 15,000 miles in 2017 and now has 20,000 miles. Nothing is needed, this motorhome is ready to drive anywhere today. I drove it to Colorado once and Arizona once, those are the only long distance trips it ever made.

If you are looking for an older, dependable, and original motorhome that needs nothing, is turn-key ready, this is it. Take $10K to a few RV lots and see what it buys, certainly nothing that needs no work done that is also as dependable as this unit is. You can't find a decent car for $10K, for that matter. Or you can buy a cheaper version and open the money pit.

NOTE- My FIRM price is $10K, please don't send offers without seeing it first, I won't bother replying. Most recently, the engine battery was replaced on April 11, 2026.

NOTE- the vehicle was smogged in December, just 50 miles ago. The certificate has expired, so if you want a smog certificate a $200 non-refundable deposit is required that is not credited to the purchase price.
