RV Description
Purchased new in March of 2023 from Airstream of Austin.
Wife and I downsized from a 30 traditional travel trailer to the Basecamp in March of 2023. Have taken two cross country trips from Texas to Washington State, and stayed in this camper for up to 5 weeks at a time. This is the PERFECT couples camper, and we are only selling because we are upgrading to a larger Airstream to go on the road for a year or two.
Who is the ideal buyer for this?
Individual or couple with or without small children or pets
Understands that Airstreams arent perfect, but they are distinctly different from other RV brands
Is interested in getting in to the Airstream community at a reasonable price point
Has looked at other campers in the 20 foot category, and realizes that every floor plan has compromises.
Looking for first camper, or upgrading from a Pop Up?
Looking to make some off grid mods
Understands that used RVs are not going to be perfect, but any defects or flaws are likely visible. What you see is what you get.
Do you have the title?
I am in position of the title, and it is clear of liens
What types of payment will you accept:
Will accept cash or certified funds
Willing to meet at local bank/CU to facilitate transactions
Will you accept trades or self finance?
No
Is the price negotiable?
I have priced this what I believe to be below retail, and appropriate for the condition
I am willing to negotiate in person only
Can I have it inspected?
Highly recommend an inspection. We will accommodate inspections by appointment.
Timing?
Available now
Location
Spring Branch, TX (North side of Canyon Lake)
When can I see it?
Viewings available by appointment
Will provide additional pics and videos upon request
Pros and Cons
Pros
Composite decking!! -2023 was the first year on the Basecamp to get rid of the wood decking.
3 lift and design allows for very steep departure angles w/o bottoming
EASY Towing- Towed w/ Toyota Tundra and it was a dream. Getting in and out of gas stations and backing in to camp sites is as easy as it gets.
Icy cold AC
20 foot= a lot more camp sites can accommodate
King Size bed
Tons of storage-More than you think
Ease of maintenance
Quick set up/ take down for camping
Front sitting area accommodates two adult remote workers
Great platform for modifications
Cons
We NEVER configured the rear to use the bench seating. The cushions by themselves are too thin and we had to upgrade to a memory foam mattress that we put on top of the cushions. With the memory foam mattress installed, there is no practical way to get it out of the way and set up the bench seats. Thats why we made the permanent bed conversion.
Toilet/Shower combo is a compromise but very functional
Need to coordinate moving around during shower time. I think it must be what its like to live in a submarine
The roof mounted solar is limited by the orientation of your trailer. I very rarely got more than 100W out of the 300W array.
I did some modifications that did involve modifying some of the furniture/cabinetries. I have included several of the pieces that I removed to make the bed modification, as well as the small pedestal tables and their hardware.
Surprisingly heavy tongue weight.
Maintenance
Replaced and grease Bearings/Seals every 10K miles
Stovetop and Tire Carrier Recalls completed by Airstream of Austin
Installed gas cut off to stove
On Demand Water Heater recall completed by installing a DC to DC Converter
Factory warranty ends March 2026 (only covers the trailer itself, no appliances etc
Upgrades- I did quite a few mods and upgrades. They might not be everyones cup of tea but they certainly made staying in the basecamp more enjoyable.
Mounting points on Keder Rail for installing awning (included)
MicroAir Soft start on AC for starting on 2500 W Generator
Bluetooth AC Controller w/ Directional vents
Digital Furnace control
Under Cabinet Lighting (wired)
Integrated bed support crossbeams (eliminates pedestals)
Under Bed Storage access
Storage mod on propane storage tank
Anderson connectors w/ 10AWG Wires
Switch for Solar controllers
Added additional shelves to closet
Lithium conversion: 100AH 12V battery with built in BMS and Bluetooth capability
Memory foam mattress topper
Replaced battery compartment structure with perforated aluminum sheet. This allowed for expanding the space to accommodate a large off grid install (not included) and still maintain an OEM look.
Condition:
Exterior:
Stored in covered storage since purchase
Exterior Body : is in very good overall condition.
Light scratch on passenger side near roofline (from tree branch I think). Only visible in some lighting conditions. Appears they could buff out, but have not tried.
Small scratches on passenger rock guard
Small scratches on Propane Tank cover
Undercarriage: very good condition
Tires w/ 15K miles in good condition
Interior:
Interior furniture: Normal wear and tear
Interior floor: Some heavier wear on the floor surface near battery compartment. Marking and a small divot.
