RV Description

In 2020 we took our first cross-country RV trip in a 32' Class-A Gas from Thor. We fell in love with that way of seeing America, and the lifestyle. Our enjoyment many days in national parks was limited, sites without hookups and with generator restrictions meant our dog, who wasn't allowed on most trails, couldn't be left behind. For our next trip I wanted to buy a Diesel Pusher, on a Freightliner chassis, capable of taking us anywhere in the lower 48. A proper highway bus unfazed by 750mi driving days, weather, or hour long mountain climbs over the continental divide. I didn't want to stress about our dog on hot days, worrying that the generator might stop, and did want to be able to shower and cook without hookups in remote sites.

This is that RV: Comfortable on the road and at camp for our family of four, plus room for guests, large tanks for days off-grid, and an ≈800mi fuel range. Everything, literally, can run off the battery system for 8+ hours, often more - the inverters have more capacity than the generator. We tested it in the 115°F heat of Big Bend, as well as freezing temperatures in the Adirondacks for the 2024 eclipse, and every climate in between. Most days this means never running the generator as you travel between campgrounds, and even parked in a friend's back yard in CO we barely ran it ≈4 hours a day including overnight A/C. Campground power failures, A/C on the road, boon docking at a family home over thanksgiving, all easy as pie and no planning required.

This RV is ready to go. Recent service on the engine and generator, full water tanks, empty grey and black tanks, full propane, full diesel and DEF. Spring 2025 service on slides, furnaces, and hot water furnace. Detailed interior, all linens washed and beds remade. Basic kitchen cutlery, plates, glassware. Laundry sanitized and ready to do a few loads a day. You can drive off tomorrow and be on the road for weeks or months immediately.

Will deliver anywhere in the eastern time zone from 06492 for a negotiable fee and deposit.

  • 38' Bunkhouse Design focuses on living room comfort with plenty of seating and a roomy kitchen.
  • Two slide outs: One almost full length, one kitchen, make an enormous interior when deployed.
  • 8kW Cummins Onan generator.
  • Cummins ISB 6.7L 360HP Diesel engine gets 8-9MPG and is dead nuts reliable, enough power to pass most semis on hills.
  • Alison 3000 series transmission is much stouter than required, should outlast the coach.
  • Large pass through under-coach storage bay accommodates bikes, shelters, chairs, everything for a long trip.
  • Tows 10K pounds, we towed a VW Golf on a dolly (available) which was very convenient.
  • Air suspension & air brakes make for a comfy ride - and exhaust brake saves wear and tear.
  • Sleeps 6-8 depending on how big the last four people are (bunks and dinette are not really sized for adults IMO)
  • 10 gallon hybrid electric / propane hot water heater is plenty for a few quick showers in a row on propane, or one lazy shower on electric.
  • 105G fresh water, 75G gray, and 50G black can last a week between dumps if you're a little careful. 38G propane tank runs both heaters for 1-2 weeks in cold weather, or is enough for an entire summer using propane just for cooking and hot water.
  • Dual satellite dishes and five TVs (2x in bunks, one in bed, one in kitchen, one outside) NB: We never have used any except the one in the kitchen and then only HDMI connected to an iPad, no idea how to hook up satellite or radio signal.

  • Upgrades:

  • All LED interior & Storage Bay lighting - much brighter!

  • 5kWh (400Ah @ 12v nominal) Lithium House Batteries to run slides, lights, fans, etc. (2024)

  • New Alternator (2022)
  • Re-Upholstered Driver & Passenger Seats (2023)
  • Bathroom shower head replaced with Oxygenics
  • Bathroom toilet replaced with ceramic model, much easier to clean and service!
  • RV SnapPads on all four jacks (https://rvsnappad.com/)
  • Engine: New belt, idler pulley, air cleaner, fully serviced w/coolant flush (2025)

  • Everything works. I hate to stress about things going wrong or not being right. Every cabinet latch is good, extra hooks where they are useful in the bed and bathrooms, when I saw something that needed attention I attended to it. Chassis service was very complete and done each year by Alliance Trucks in Hartford - the CT Freightliner specialist. House service was done by Blue Compass each year, and even small issues like a slow drip from the outside sink sprayer addressed completely (faucet replaced).

One exception is the timer on the dryer got damaged by previous owner. It works, but is sticky enough that it often won't stop the cycle. Can be replaced for $100 or so, but have to remove the whole stacked washer/dryer and I am too lazy to make a half day project out of that one. Another is the awning over the main entry door needs a jiggle to go all the way back in, otherwise works fine (as does the big awning) - didn't seem worth replacing.
