This nearly brand new Cascadia is equipped with a new generation Detroit DD 13 diesel engine outputting 1850 pounds of torque and 525 hp, the same power as the larger DD16 engine offered just a few years ago.

More importantly, this coach is equipped with an upgraded Gen 5 Allison TRV 4000 transmission, rather than the lower cost automated manual Detroit DT 13 transmission. The In-Depth review on this Explorer points the numerious advantages of the Allison over the DT12 transmission, such as its 10 length advantage in acceleration over the DT12 transmission. Note due to Military obligations, Allison 4000s are no longer available to Freightliner or Renegade for RV use at the present time.

This outstanding coach with its luxury fully padded wall and ceilings interior, was purchased just 6 months ago from North Trail RV with 1850 delivery miles and presently and patently has only 5,525 miles. Therefore, this coach retains its original Renegade and Freightliner warranties.

This Explorer is packed with $42,378 of optional equipment to include $3,920 Star Link system and a top of the line $22,857 Victron Dual Inverter lithium system with four lithium modules outputting 1000 ah. This lithium system is capable of running a roof top air conditioner over-night just on lithium battery power. To keep the system charged, theres a Victron Alternator charger and a factory installed 5 panel 1000 watt solar system.

Improvements & Upgrades

Rear Cap Mounting Error - The Explorer is delivered with a rear cap mounting error which allows the cap to continually move back and forth during highway travel which will eventually cause cracks. This problem was remedied.

Lithium Battery Cut-offs - The Explorer is delivered with no lithium cutoffs, so in even of a short or worse an accident the owner or first responder have no means of isolating the high current from the coach. Therefore lithium battery cutoffs were added for each of the two inverters and house module.

Additional Fusing - Both the the House and BIM charger were unfused and wired directly to the battery buss. Additional fusing was installed to protect these devices.

Victron Orion Alternator Charger - The provided Li-Bim charger is incapable of charging lithium batteries properly in addition the Li-Bim was over-charging the lithium batteries at 250 amps at idle, over=discharging the alternator. To remedy the problem it was unwired from the system and a Victron 50 amp Orion Bluetooth charger was installed.


Victron Chassis Battery Charger - To remedy chassis battery charging, a Victron Smart Bluetooth IP65 battery charger was installed which automatically charges and maintains the Cascadias three AGM starting batteries while parked or during storage.

Relocate Cerbos Touch Display - The Cerbo Touch display was re-located from the rear of the inverter compartment to the front of the compartment door, making it assessable for easy viewing and making needed changes.

Wiring Diagram - I produced a revised and corrected simple lithium battery wiring diagram which includes new shut-offs, fuses, Orion DC to DC lithium battery charger.

Relocate Fireflys Module - The Firefly Wi-Fi / Bluetooth module was in error buried in close to a 100 wires of the Firefly control board reducing range considerably. The module was re-located to the entrance coat closet, doubling Bluetooth range and allowing easy viewing of the status leds or perform a reset.

Repair Aqua Hots - Water circulation lines on the diesel engine. The lines for engine pre-heating and warming the Aqua Hit boiler were incorrectly routed and mounted on a sharp metal edge cutting the coolant hoses which will eventually rapture and risk of loss of coolant on the road. This problem was addressed.

Re-locate the Woofer Speaker - Regretfully the large space under the sink used for storing thrr coffee pot and toaster were lost when Renegade in error mounted a large woofer speaker in that area. Therefore the woofer speaker was relocated from under the sink to behind the fireplace wall. This modification now provides for better acoustics and more importantly, to regain a large storage area.

Dress-Up the Explorers Exhaust - The stock exhaust tip in error was pointed downward which kicked up dust and dirt on gravel roads coating the aft section and generator. The exhaust was re-fitted with a great looking 8 x 15 stainless tip exhaust pipe.

TV Cabinet - While sitting on the coach watching TV all the wires and transformers under the TV were were exposed. To remedy the problem, I hired Renegades wood shop to manufacture a matching panel which conceals the power plugs and transformers from site.

Wiring & Air line - All internal and external wiring to include external airlines, were carefully inspected for security and proper mounting.

Both Air Conditioners - This coach from Renegade only allows operation of the front air conditioner while using lithium batteries. However, air condition is more desirable for sleeping, therefore this coach has been rewired to run either front or rear air conditioners on lithium battery.
