History: My wife and I bought the van in 2019. We have had a lot of fun and have traveled from Montana to the East Coast every year for family time. I have every confidence in this motor coach and it is ready to drive this summer anywhere. It is fun and comfortable to drive.
The CEO of Airstream commented that RV owners were unrealistic in their expectations concerning new vehicles. I'll let you decide. We have been trouble free on the road for the last 3 years. That was not always the case. Airstream is supposed to mean quality and for the most part I will agree. They are nicely made, but their workmanship in the beginning was less than stellar. Our dealer bought us a campground pass so we could try out the rig. From the start, we had problems, all factory assembly errors.
Pumping out the black & gray water tanks found a kink in the hose. Airstream fixed but cost me a day's travel and wait time. Factory installed the hose reel contrary to the wind direction kinking the hose.
Our first trip back east provided us new problems every day. Day 2 the sink piping broke because it was hard piped pic. Vibration of travel sheered off the fitting at the sink drain. I installed a flexible drain myself because the nearest Airstream dealer was over 700 miles away. It still works fine.
Day 3 while pumping out the waste tanks, the piping broke under the van. I wasn't able to get it fixed for 3 days until we reached Louisville, Tennessee at Airstream - again vibration. No issues since.
Day 4, a Sunday in St. Louis we got a check engine warning light. We were heading for Louisville, Kentucky and it was within the error mileage range. Mercedes Louisville replaced the faulty def pump under warranty but it still cost us half of day waiting for repairs. No problems of this kind since, and this is the only problem we have had with the engine or chassis.
The final problem we encounter took over a year to get sorted out at multiple Airstream dealers was electrical. The charging system was finally fixed at Airstream in LA. The wiring was incorrectly done at the factory. This was the most painful, but it has worked without a problem since.
Title is clear.
It will need tires in the near future.
We added a Kenwood DMX 709S to replace original entertainment system. It is now Apple Play capable.
We added the Stowaway bumper box for additional travel stowage of 16 cubic feet.
We have completed two maintenance cycles, the next at 60K miles. Time between oil changes is 20K miles. This I have done myself. The service visits can run 2-3k due to hight shop labor. I can change my own oil for a lot less than $600, or put on new wiper blades for $120. Autozone will do it for free. U-Tube has videos on every service requirement and shows step by step procedures .
Now that I've probably talked you out of buying this van, all I can say is that it is in great shape. It will last for years. The engine alone is a 300k engine. I run Amsoil in all my vehicles and use their filters because of the guarantee they offer. She is ready for the summer. I hope you will give it a look.
